Sanitation workers held a protest outside the Municipal Corporation office in Sector 68 on Friday against the ongoing garbage disposal crisis plaguing the city. Mohan Singh, state vice-president of the Sanitation Workers’ Union, said, “Politics is being played over Mohali’s garbage issue. The MLA and the mayor are from different parties, and the residents of Mohali are suffering as a result of their political conflict.” He added, “Sanitation workers are segregating up to 85% of the waste at Resource Management Centres (RMCs). Of the total 200 tonnes of daily waste, 50% is wet waste, and 25% consists of cardboard, bottles and similar items, which sanitation workers manage themselves. The remaining 25%, including diapers, plastic bags and wraps, is around 10-15 tonnes daily. Despite this, the authorities lack infrastructure and mechanism to manage this waste effectively.”

Ensure the thermostat is set to an appropriate temperature. Avoid setting the temperature too low, which can cause the AC to blast cold air when it reaches the desired temperature. Dirty air filters can restrict airflow, leading to uneven cooling and sudden blasts of cold air. Clean or replace air filters regularly according to manufacturer recommendations. Ensure that air vents are not obstructed by furniture, curtains, or other objects. Blocked vents can disrupt airflow and cause uneven cooling. An AC unit that is too large for the space it is cooling can lead to short cycling, where the unit turns on and off frequently, resulting in sudden blasts of cold air. Ensure that your AC unit is properly sized for the cooling area. Inadequate insulation can allow cold air to seep into the home, leading to uneven cooling and sudden blasts of cold air. To maintain consistent temperatures throughout the home, improve insulation in walls, windows, and doors.

Denmark's top diplomat shared a video of a garbage dump outside the embassy building on social media, calling New Delhi "great, green, and trashy." He continued saying, "here we have the Danish Embassy, and the Greek Embassy is over there. This should be a service lane, but you can see it’s full of trash, and people are just dumping whatever they like. I hope somebody will listen to this and take action. No more nice words, just action. Dhanyawaad." The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) quickly responded to the situation and initiated the cleanup of the area.
