Shantabai Kurade, 69, who had been begging on Mumbai's streets for 35 years, was found slain at her rented home in Vitthal Nagar near Chincholi Bunder in Malad West last week. According to police sources, after her husband's death, she not only married off her only daughter, but she also donated Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 to her relatives in Washim district every month, allowing them to build a house and purchase a three-acre plot of property worth crores. Her two grandchildren now make lakhs because to the plot.

Pune murder case: Former Pune Corporator attacked by bike killers
