The Supreme Court ruled that police officers cannot use colonial-era biases against members of certain tribes and scheduled castes to label them as 'bad characters' or 'history sheeters" in their records, and that such an archaic mindset violates individuals' right to dignity guaranteed by Article 21 of the Constitution.
