Due to subpar performance, Dehradun Municipal Corporation, also known as Dehradun Nagar Nigam, terminated its agreement with EESL for the upkeep and repairs of the city's streetlights. Recall that EESL was awarded the contract to maintain and repair the street lights throughout the capital's wards. The company is now being accused of defrauding the Municipal Corporation of lakhs of rupees each month in addition to performing poorly. The Municipal Authorities assert that hundreds of complaints about non-functioning street lights in numerous municipal wards are still waiting with the EESL.
