In a landmark decision, a Lucknow panel of the Allahabad High Court ruled that Muslims cannot engage in live-in relationships, particularly if they are already married. "The Islamic teachings prohibit live-in partnerships while a marriage is still legal. The situation may change if both persons are unmarried adults who willingly want to cohabit," the bench noted.
