On Tuesday, a signboard on a flyover named after Savarkar in Yelahanka in Bengaluru was smeared with black ink. The signboard was allegedly defaced by members of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), which is the Congress's student wing. Visuals from the spot showed a man spraying black ink on the blue signboard, which had Savarkar's name in both English and Kannada. A man from Karnataka's Koppal was arrested for making a derogatory comment on his Facebook story about Savarkar. The man, Hussainsab, whose Facebook username is 'Tipu', posted a story with the caption "Savarkar first terrorist of India" on Wednesday.
